Fourth day's play called off for rain

Update : 13 Jun 2015, 03:39 AM

Bangladesh have lost their three early wickets of the innings at only 111 runs 30.1 overs on the fourth-day of the one-off Test at Fatullah before rain halted the play.

The fourth day’s Test play between Bangladesh and India has been called off at 4:05pm on Saturday due to rain, reports espncricinfo.

Bangladesh will trail by 351 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the 1st innings.

Ashwin sent Tamim back to the pavilion for only 19 immediately after the batsman became the highest run scorer of Bangladesh in test match. The Indian bowler got one to dip and spinned sharply and Tamim was completely flummoxed.

Mominul Haque and Imrul Kayes shared a fine 50-run stand before Harbhajan Singh and Ashwin struck to send back Mominul and Rahim.

Earlier in the day, India declared at 462 for six.

Indian batsmen have dominated proceedings over three rain-hit days of cricket against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh will have to bat out of their skin here. The ball seemed to turn pretty sharply last afternoon and India have two quality off-spinners in their ranks.

But before that, the Tigers will have to counter India's pace attack and that itself would be a massive challenge.

After rain prevented the proceedings on day 2, India employed an aggressive approach on day 3 by scoring runs at a rapid pace.

Only 285 balls were bowled on day 3 with the last session being washed off without a ball being bowled.

Openers Dhawan and Vijay pushed the opening stand to 283/0 before Dhawan threw his wicket away in quest of quick runs.

Rohit and Saha failed to capitalize on a great opportunity while the Indian skipper failed to pick a wrong 'un from the 19-year old leggie Jubair Hossain.

Dhawan made 173, Vijay stroked his way to a sublime 150 but the innings of the day came from Ajinkya Rahane, who chipped in with a 103-ball 98. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed, as did Wriddhiman Saha.
