At least 25 peoples have been electrocuted and 30 others have been injured as a wedding bus came in contact with a live wire in Pachewar area of Tonk district of Rajasthan in India.
25 deaths are confirmed so far and several others also received burn injuries, District Collector Rekha Gupta said, PTI reports.
The rented bus was carrying a marriage party from Bachheda to Morla village in the district when the incident occurred near Pachewar area on Friday.
Bachheda village resident Jai Ram’s son Ram Charan was slated to get married to former Morla sarpanch Ram Dhan’s daughter on Friday. Family and friends of the groom were headed to the wedding venue when the incident took place.
Police and district administration officials have reached the spot, the district collector said.
The death toll is likely to increase, Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar has said.
Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria and Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini have rushed to the spot.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje condoled the deaths and announced a financial assistance of Rs5 lakh from the energy department for the next of kin of the deceased.
