50th show of Kahe Birangana on Saturday

The 50th show of Kahe Birangana, nationally and internationally acclaimed Manipuri theatre production, is going to be staged at Studio Theatre Hall at the National Theatre at 7 pm on Saturday.

The 49th show will be staged in the same auditorium on Friday evening,

Shubhashish Sinha dramatised Michael Madhusudan Dutta's poetry into the play and directed it. The story of the play evolved round some of the prominent female characters of Mahabharata - 'Shakuntala', 'Dusshala', and 'Jana'- where Jyoti Sinha would perform a monologue.

The first show of the play was staged on December 30, 2010 at Studio Theatre hall in the National Theatre, followed by consecutive staging in India and Bangladesh, drawing huge admiration.

The play won Abdul Jabbar Khan Award, from the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB). It was performed in Assam and Tripura at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture, India, also staged in Kolkata at the invitation of India's leading newspaper Times of India.

Shukla Sinha, Sunanda Sinha and Bhagyalaksmi Sinha would be with Jyoti Sinha, Sharmila Sinha is doing music, Laxman Singh and Bidhan Chandra Chandra will play Singh instruments.
