At least three people, including a woman, have been killed and seven others injured in separate lightning strikes during heavy rain in Shyamnagar upazila of the district.
The deceased are Abdul Hamid, 45, Sajida Khatun, 25, and Ziad Ali Gazi, 65.
The injured were admitted to Shyamnagar upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Shyamnagar police station OC Enamul Haque said: “A thunderbolt hit Sajida Wednesday morning while she was working outside at Nakipur village while Hamid of Taranipur village and Ziad of Paranpur village died as thunderbolts struck them while they were working in the fields.”
