The hanging bodies of a couple have been recovered from a mango tree in the district's Kaliganj upazila.
The deceased are Laila Akhter, 30, wife of Malaysia expatriate Jasimuddin, and Alamgir Hossain, 24, son of Montaz Uddin.
According to family members Lalila and Alamgir were in love with each other for a long time.
On June 4, Laila, the mother of two sons, left her husband's house and started living with Alamgir.
They often locked in altercations as Alamgir's family members refused to accept Laila, said locals.
They might have committed suicide over the family dispute, they suspected.
Kaliganj police station SI Nazmul Haque said: “Being informed, we recovered the bodies hanging from the branch of a mango tree at around 11am Tuesday.”
An unnatural death case has been filed in this connection, said police.
