Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi picked up on a Dhaka Tribune tag line in his farewell speech at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Sunday evening.
“I saw a picture of a Bangladeshi female cricketer, Salma Khatun, who bravely announced 'I'm made in Bangladesh,'” Modi said in his address at the conclusion of a two-day visit here.Dhaka Tribune’s “I'm made in Bangladesh” campaign showcases some of the many inspirational Bangladeshis who are making their mark in their chosen fields.
“I have always attached a lot of importance to girl-child education, which is a key element in empowering women. Bangladesh is a model of women's empowerment,” the Indian prime minister said.
According to the Dhaka Tribune: “As we commemorate the 44th anniversary of our independence, their stories provide a valuable reminder of the enormous abilities our people have when they are given the opportunity to unleash their creativity and talent.”
The English-language national daily newspaper said the campaign's objective was both to admire and to inspire.
Evidently, as Indian Prime Minister Modi's kudos shows, it worked.
