Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the outcomes of his visit to Bangladesh will lead to a stronger partnership between the two countries.

The Indian premier made the statement before leaving for Delhi after concluding his two-day official visit.

"Thank you Bangladesh. The visit will remain forever etched in my memory. Outcomes of the visit will lead to a stronger partnership," Modi tweets on Sunday evening.

In another tweet, the Indian prime minister said: "Most importantly, we successfully overcame long pending issues of the past and this will enable us to create a better future for our ties."

During his visit, Modi visited several historical places and met political leaders in Bangladesh.

The Indian premier arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He received the Friends of Bangladesh Liberation War Award bestowed on former Indian prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for the latter’s role in the Bangladesh Liberation War.
