Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He paid tribute to Bangabandhu by placing wreath at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 immediate after paying respects to the martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar.
Later, he visited Bangabandhu’s house where the father of the nation was assassinated along with his family members on the fateful night of Aug 15, 1975.
Radwan Mujib Siddique, son of Bangabandhu’s younger’s daughter Sheikh Rehana, received Modi at the museum when he reached there around 12 noon.
After placing floral wreath at Bangabandhu’s portrait, Modi observed a minute of silence. Later, he visited the museum.
The Indian premier signed the visitor’s book and left the museum around 12:35pm for Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon where he will stay during the tour.
Modi arrived Dhaka on Saturday morning on a two-day official visit. He was accorded a red carpet reception on his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The prime ministers of Bangladesh and India will have a tete-a-tete prior to official talks, which will begin in the afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office.
