A sub-inspector of police has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his own pistol in Manirampur upazila of the district.
The deceased is Khan Ali Akbar, SI of Monirampur police station, hailing from Naokhola village under Lohagara upazila of Narail district, OC Mollah Khabir Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune.
“Akbar shot himself with his official pistol around 4:15am on Saturday. He died on the spot,” the OC said.
Hearing the sounds of firing, Akbar’s colleagues rushed in and out and finally found his body lying on the rooftop of the police station, said the police official.
He was rushed to Monirumpur Hospital and then he was shifted to Jessore 250-bed General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Akbar was in trouble over family feud, said the OC. He was on duty as emergency officer on Saturday night.
He had been working as in Monirampur police station as a sub-inspector.
