Tk12,725 crore allocated for health

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has proposed an allocation of Tk12,725 crore for the health and family planning sector in the 2015-16 fiscal year.

In 2014-15 financial year, Tk11,146 crore was allocated for this sector. 

The finance minister has placed the proposed national budget in the parliament on Thursday.

In his speech, Muhith said the government is planning to distribute 13, 861 mini laptops among the community clinics to bring the slogan "A Mini Laptop will be a Digital Doctor‟ into realisation.

The programme will enable the rural people to avail telemedicine services and keep themselves updated with the latest information on health related issues and education, the minister said.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith is placing annual budget proposal around Tk2.95tn (Tk295,100 crore) for 2015-16 fiscal year.

The budget size of Tk2.95tn would be 18% higher than the outgoing fiscal year’s original budget of Tk2.5tn and 22.19% higher than the revised budget of Tk2.4tn.
