The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has stayed a High Court directive that halted government order suspending Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).
Court of Appellate Division Chamber Judge, Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order and sent the matter to regular bench of the Appellate Division for hearing, reports BSS.
The SC also set June 14 to hold hearing on the matter before the Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.
The government on May 7 suspended Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul as he has been charged with criminal offences.
The High Court acting on a writ filed by Bulbul, halted the government order for a month. However, the stateside filed an appeal against the High Court order.
