Two workers were killed and another was injured in a landslide while cutting hills in Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Liakot, 27 and Mir Kamal, 32, both hailing from Choroti of Satkania upazila, said Officer in-Charge (OC) Swapan Kumar Majumdar of Banskhali police station.
The injured, Helal, was admitted at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pankaj Barua of CMCH police outpost.
OC Swapan Kumar told the Dhaka Tribune that while the workers were cutting earth from a hill at Dakshinpara area of Pukuria under Banskhali at noon, a big chunk fell on them, leaving Mir Kamal dead on the spot and two others injured.
Liakot was first rushed to Anwara Health Complex in a critical condition. But he was later taken to CMCH as per the advise of on-duty doctor Salauddin.
He, however, died on the way to the hospital, said the OC.
Due legislative processes would be taken in this regard, the OC further added.
