Two workers have been killed and another was injured in a landslide while cutting hills in Banshkhali upazila in Chittagong.
The dead were identified as Md Liakat, 27, and Mir Kamal, 32, hailing from Choroti of Satkania upazila of the district, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shawpan Kumar Majumdar of Banshkhali police station.
The injured, Helal, was admitted at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pankaj Barua of CMCH police outpost.
OC Sawpan Kumar told Dhaka Tribune that three workers were cutting earth from a hill of one Abdul Gani at Dakshinpara area of Pukuria under Banshkhali on Monday noon.
A chunk of earth fell on them, leaving Mir Kamal dead on the spot and two others injured, added the OC.
Of the injured, Liakat was rushed at Anwara Health Complex from where he was being shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in critical condition, said complex’s on duty doctor Salahuddin.
Later, Liakat died on the way to the CMCH, said the OC.
The legislative processes will be taken in this regard, the police official added.
