Motorcyclist killed in Chittagong road mishap

A motorcyclist has been killed in a road mishap on Port Connecting road at Nimtala area under Bandar police station in Chittagong city.

The dead, Priyankar Debnath, 27, son of Ajit Debnath, hailing from Kodurkhil of Boalkhali upazila in Chittagong, said Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pankaj Barua of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Mohiuddin of Bandar police station said the incident took place in front of Panama Truck Terminal also known as Bandar Truck Terminal beside the road at Nimtala area at around 12:30pm on Monday when a speedy covered-van smashed the motorbike carrying Priyankar down, leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to CMCH where the on duty doctors declared him dead at around 1pm, said ASI Pankaj.

Police took the killer vehicle under the custody while the driver managed to flee after the accident, added the SI.
