Police have submitted two charge sheets against Sohel Rana and 41 others in two cases filed over the Rana Plaza collapse that killed over 1,135 garment workers.
Investigation Officer Bijoy Krishno Kar, also senior assistant superintendent of CID, submitted the charge sheets to the General Recording Officer Mohammad Asaduzzaman of Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court around 3pm Monday.
Public Prosecutor Anwarul Kabir Babul confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
The Rana Plaza collapse on 24 April, 2013 claimed at least 1,134 lives – the workers belonging to five garment factories housed in the building and left around 2,500 others injured.
Two cases were filed over the incident – one under criminal code while the other under building construction act.
A total of 41 persons including the building owner Sohel Rana, his father Abdul Khaled and mother Morzina Begum have been made accused in the killing case.
Twenty-five persons were shown absconding in the case.
A total of 18 persons were made accused in the case filed under building construction act.
