Two youth including an Ansar man and a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee have allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in Chittagong city’s Double Mooring area and Katalganj area.
The deceased were identified as Mahbubur Rahman, 20, son of Habibur Rahman, hailing from Shariatpur district and Minhazur Rahman Rahi, 20, son of Md Shahriar, said police sources.
Of them, Mahbub was the Ansar member in Chittagong, said Double Mooring police station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Saidur Rahman while Minhaz was the HSC examinee of Hazi Mohammed Mohsin College, said Nayek Jahangir Alam of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost.
SI Saidur said Mahbub who failed at SSC examination reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself by his own rifle during on duty at one private company Nedaya Islamia Centre in city’s Double Mooring area at 3am Monday as he could not come out successfully at the examination which result was published on May 30.
The bullet pierced on his abdomen, leaving him critically injured. Later, his colleagues rushed Mahbub at CMCH, said the SI.
SI Saidur said the ansar man succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at CMCH at around 9:30pm on Monday night.
During initial investigation police found several SMSs in his cell phone which say that Mahbub was a relationship with a girl who also appeared at the SSC and passed the examination but he didn’t.
The body was sent to CMCH morgue for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, Minhaz, the HSC examinee committed suicide by hanging himself with ceiling in his bedroom at around 9am at Sheikh Baharullah Masjid Lane of Katalganj area under Panchliash police station as his Higher Math examination which held on May 31 was not good, said medical police sources.
Family members rushed him to CMCH in critical condition where the on duty doctors declared him dead, said Nayek Jahangir.
Minhaz’s father Md Shahriar is the Math teacher of Fatickchari BMA College, said police sources.
