Update : 28 May 2015, 06:20 PM

All the banks have been asked not to hold the woman employees after office hour, which ends at 6pm.

“Woman employees cannot be forced to stay at offices even after the working hours,” said a Bangladesh Bank circular, which was issued yesterday with an immediate effect.

The central bank made the decision in the backdrop of raising allegations that woman employees are being harassed in different manners forcing them to stay at offices even after working-hours said the circular.

If any woman official needs to stay at her office even after working hours in case of urgent needs, she must be paid extra along with necessary security measures, according to the BB circular.

“We issued the circular not only to honor the female bankers but also to ensure their rights and safety measures,” said Rup Ratan Pine, deputy general manager of Bangladesh Bank.

The banks were asked to stop indiscriminate sacking of their employees and advised to improve the skill of their respective employees through proper training.

The BB circular also asked the banks to strictly follow International Labour Organization Conventions and Bangladesh Labour Law, 2006 in case of sacking any employees.
