Confessing their involvement in the rape of the Garo woman, the two detained rapists described how they picked the victim up in their microbus.
In an initial interrogation, the criminals told the RAB officials that they picked up the victim, whom they talked with several times earlier, in their microbus, alluring her with the promise of discussing a better job offer.
They also assured the woman that they would drop her off in Uttara after the discussion.
RAB's legal and media wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan disclosed the information at a press briefing at around Wednesday at noon.
He said: “In the initial interrogation, both arrestees confessed they took the woman inside the microbus at around 9:25pm and violated her.”
“Ashraf alias Tushar met the victim at a shop in Jamuna Future Park and, at one stage of their conversation, he took her phone number. Later, he called her several times and allured her with a better job offer at a reputed buying house.”
“On May 21, Tushar called the victim at around 8:30pm and asked her to meet him at the bus stand. The woman was not quite ready to meet him; however, she went there to talk to the criminal. At one stage of the talks, Tushar convinced her and picked her up in the microbus. Later, Tushar and Lavlu violated her,” added the RAB official.
Tushar made the plan on May 18, said Mufti Mahmud Khan.
The culprits were arrested early on Wednesday and the elite force members also seized the grey-coloured microbus, which was used for raping the victim.
At around 1am on Wednesday, a team of RAB conducted a drive in Kolapara upazila of Potuakhali district and held Tushar.
Later, based on Tushar's information, the RAB members arrested Lavlu from the Gulshan 1 area at around 5:25am.
According to the case statement, five criminals forcefully took the 21-year-old Garo woman inside a grey-coloured microbus while she was waiting at the Biswa Road bus stand for a bus on May 21.
The criminals, including the driver of the microbus, violated her on the running vehicle and threw her out of it in Uttara.
Later, a case was filed with Vatara police station in this regard.
