A rape victim and her family members from Goshairghat of the district have alleged that local police refused to register a case terming the allegations wrong.
Father of the victim, who is a Class XIII student at a local school, said four teenagers including Rizvi Khan of the same village abducted her on Sunday evening from the house. They tied her hands and mouth, and Rizvi raped her at the house of Delowar Hossain Bepari throughout the night while others guarded the house.
After a frantic search, family members found her in captivity at Bepari’s house around 10am on Monday.
Rizvi’s three other accomplices include Bepari’s son Rajon. Rizvi is the son of Delwar Hossain Khan of Jagir Munshi village under Kodalpur union. He recently passed SSC from another school in the area.
Family members of the victim went to Goshairghat police on Monday afternoon to file a case. But the police did not register the complaint.
OC Mohammad Moazzem Hossain said: “We did not take the case as the victim’s statement was incoherent. Later I sent Sub-Inspector Faruk Hossain for investigation. He did not find the allegation to be true.”
Father of the victim told the Dhaka Tribune: “Police talked to my daughter in a separate room and later claimed that she was lying. They claimed that we are trying to put someone in a trap.”
The father said Rizvi had been harassing his daughter sexually every now and then for the last two years. She was studying at the same school where Rizvi studied until last year. But they had to change her school because of the harassment.
He said they had informed Rizvi’s family about the matter seeking remedy, but to no avail.
“On Sunday evening, I went out to the mosque to say prayers leaving my two daughters at home. But when I came back, I did not find my younger daughter at home or anywhere around. We discovered her at an abandoned house of Delowar Hossain Bepari the next morning.”
He alleged that SI Faruk had only spoken to Rizvi’s family members and tried to save the accused.
Journalists from Shariatpur met the victim’s family yesterday and sent her to the Sadar Hospital for treatment.
“Rizvi was giving me marriage proposal for long. Recently he told me that he will do something so that no one else marries me. Rizvi and his friends abducted me around 8:30pm on Sunday when I came out of the house to go to the toilet,” she told the Dhaka Tribune.
“Rizvi raped and tortured me severely tying my hands and mouth. The three others were staying outside the room.”
