The High Court yesterday granted four-week anticipatory bail to BNP leader Rafiqul Islam Mia in seven criminal cases.
The bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Khasruzzaman passed the order after hearing seven bail petitions.
During hartal and blockades on different days after January 5, seven cases were filed against the BNP standing committee member with Mirpur and Pallabi police stations under explosives and special power acts.
Deputy Attorney General Fazlur Rahman Khan told reporters that they would appeal to the Supreme Court against the bail orders.
Former attorney general AJ Mohammad Ali represented the accused BNP leader. Rafiqul appeared before the court yesterday for the bail hearing, following several months of staying out of the public eye.
