Unnayan Parishad panel led by Nitol Niloy Group Chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmad won the biennial election of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The panel bagged 25 director posts out of 32. The panel got 13 posts in association group and 12 posts in chamber group.
Professor Ali Ashraf, chairman of the election board, has declared the results yesterday.
A total of 1,950 out of 2,204 votes were cast in the apex trade body’s election.
The Chamber Group cast 418 votes out of 436 votes while the Association Group cast 1,532 votes out of 1,768 votes, he said.
The FBCCI Board is comprised of 52 directors, of which 32 will be elected through direct votes and the remaining 20 nominated from different chambers and associations.
Of the 32 posts, 16 have been elected from the Chamber Group and another 16 from the Association Group. Today, the elected and nominated directors will select the president, first vice-president and vice-presidents from among themselves.
Meanwhile, Swadhinata Byabshayee Parishad panel led by Monowara Hakim Ali, the incumbent first vice-president of the FBCCI, won four director posts in the poll.
Byabshayee Oikya Parishad led by Kazi Ertaza Hassan won three director posts. However, Kazi Ertaza Hassan could not win in the poll.
The winners of Unnayan Parishad from Chamber Group are Hasina Newaz of Bangladesh Women Chamber and Commerce Industry, Nagibul Islam Dipu of Meherpur Chamber, Sheikh Fazle Fahim of Gopalganj Chamber, Gazi Golam Asria of Kishoreganj Chamber, Dilip Kumar Agarwala of Chuadangha Chamber, M Nizam Uddin of Barisal Chamber, M Nurul Huda Mukut of Sunamganj Chamber, M Bazlur Rahman of Narayanganj Chamber, Aminul Huq Shameem of Mymensing Chamber, Prabir Kumar Saha of Narsingdi Chamber, Rezaul Karim Reznu of Jamalpur Chamber and M Anwar Sadat Sarker of Gazipur Chamber.
The winners of Unnayan Parishad from the Association Group are FBCCI incumbent vice-president M Helal Uddin, Abu Motaleb of Bangladesh Plastic Packaging Association, KM Akhtaruzzaman of Furniture Exporters Association, Harun-Or-Rashid of Grey and Finished Fabrics Mills Exporters Association, M Habib Ullah Don of Reconditioned Vehicle Import and Dealers Association, Shoyeb Chowdhury of National Small and Cottage Industry Association, M Abu Naser of Outsources and Logistic Service Association, M Muntakim Ashraf of Bangladesh Cold Storage Association, M Nizam Uddin Rajesh, BASIS President Shameem Ahsan, SM Jahangir Hossain and M Amin Helali.
The winners of Swadhinata Byabshayee Parishad panel from chambers are Monowara Hakim Ali of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Kohinur Islam of Munshiganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tabarakul Tosaddek Hossain Khan of Manikganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Masud Parvez Khan of Comilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The winners of Byabshayee Oikya Parishad from Association Group are Md Shafquat Haider from Bangladesh Association of Call Centre and Outsourcing, Khandakar Ruhul Amin from CNG Association of Bangladesh and Abul Ayes Khan from Bangladesh Auto Spare Parts Merchant Association.
