Satkhira bus plunge kills 3

Three people have been killed and at least 20 injured as a passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch at Subhasini area of Tala Upazila in Satkhira.

OC of Tala police Rezaul Karim confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.

The deceased are Champa Rani, 22, wife of Sujit Kumar Mandal of Dumuria upazila of Khulna, Tumpa Das, 20, daughter of Biswajit Das of Barabila village of Tala, Asad Mia, 48, a cotton towel seller from Dumuria.

Miajan Morol, Chairman of Tetulia Union Parishad under Tala, told reporters from the scene that the driver of the bus lost control over its steering and fell into a roadside ditch when it reached Subhasini area while going to Satkhira from Khulna on Sunday afternoon.

Three people were killed on the spot and at least 20 people injured.

Hearing the news, the fire service men arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies and the injured people.

The injured were taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, Khulna Medical College Hospital and various clinics in Patkelghata.
