Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) has sent a list of 208 trafficking victims, who were rescued from a boat, to Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) to justify their identities.
Teknaf 42 BGB acting commander Major Abu Rasel Siddique confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune.
BGB will send the list to the Home Ministry, he added.
However, BGB has sought another fresh list from Myanmar as the list is incomplete.
On Friday, Myanmar's navy found two fishing trawlers filled with 208 men during a patrol off Rakhine state, the main point of departure for fleeing Rohingya.
Later, BGP informed BGB that out of 208 trafficking victims, 200 are Bangladeshi.
Following the matter, an 11-member team led by Cox’s Bazar BGB Sector Commander Colonel Md Khalekuzzaman PSC was scheduled to visit Myanmar on Sunday.
“But the team cancelled the tour to Myanmar as there were no details about the victims in the list,” said Khalekuzzaman.
Bangladesh will consider the next course of action after getting a complete list from Myanmar over the matter, he added.
