The Shab-e-Barat falls on the night of June 2 (Tuesday), a meeting of the national moon sighting committee has announced on Tuesday.
The decision came at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation office in the capital on Tuesday evening.
Director General of the foundation and Member Secretary of the committee Shamim M Afzal presided over the meeting, reported BSS.
Additional Secretary of the cabinet division M Maqsudur Rahman Patwari, additional secretary of the religious affairs ministry M Shahiduzzaman, Principal information officer of PID Tasir Ahmad, joint secretary of information ministry Mohammad Nurul Islam, Baitul Mukarram Khatib Professor Moulana Mohammad Salah Uddin, among others, were present at the meeting.
Therefore, the Sha'ban month begins Wednesday (May 20) and Shab-e-Barat will be observed on June 2.
According to Muslim belief, on this night, Allah, the almighty, decides the fate of all human beings for the coming year taking into account their past deeds.
