14 return home after serving jail in Myanmar

Fourteen Bangladeshis have returned home after serving different terms in jail in Myanmar.

Among them, 11 were arrested while illegally heading for Malaysia.

The 14 Bangladeshis are Abdur Rahim from Maheshkhali, Joynal Uddin, Ebadullah and Nur Kabir from Ukhiya, Nuurl Amin from Teknaf, Syed Alam from Nazirpara, Yusuf from Hila union, Bablu from Bandarban, Yu Kyo Mong from Kheyang, Amin from Haji Guramiyapara, Yunus from Dulupara, Abdur Rahim from Bajaliya of Chittagong, Badshah Miya of Lohagora and Rajib Khan from Moksudpur of Dhaka.

Myanmar Immigration Department handed them over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Monday at 10am after holding a two-hour long flag meeting in Mongdu in Myanmar, said sources in BGB.

Confirming the matter, Lt Col Abu Zar Al Zahid, commanding officer of BGB 42 Battalion, said more than hundreds of Bangladeshis are still languishing in the jail of Myanmar. Their rehabilitation was under processing.
