The authorities of Mohammadpur Preparatory Higher Secondary Girls’ School have decided to sack cleaner Gopal for trying to sexually harass a grade one student.
The decision was taken after the probe committee identified cleaner Gopal as a suspected person involved in the sexual harassment, according to a press release issued by the school on Monday.
Legal steps will also be taken against the school staff, it said.
The media release states that the school authorities also decided to remove Vice-Principal Zinnatunnessa from her post for the sake of a fair investigation into the incident.
All the male staff have been transferred from the girls' section of the school, and 12 CCTV cameras have been set up to strengthen security, says the press release.
A grade one student was sexually assaulted on May 5 this year and another student of grade five fell prey to a similar crime last year. The news of the harassment of the grade five student surfaced after the fresh incident on May 5.
