Police have arrested the man who allegedly slaughtered his three daughters on Friday, from the district's Baizid Bostami area early Monday.
The accused, Abdul Gani, was picked up by law enforcers at around 12:30am, said Chakaria OC Probhash Chondro.
He said: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive in the area and arrested Gani. He is suffering from a mental disorder.”
“He has also confessed that he had killed his daughters.”
On Friday, Gani slaughtered his daughters – Aysha Siddiqa, 11, Hiru Jannat, 9, and Tofura Jannat, 2, – over a family feud in the Chowdury Para area under Chakaria upazila.
Witnesses said rickshaw puller Abdul Gani was involved in an extramarital affair for a long time, which led to a conflict with his wife Fatema Begum.
Following the conflict, Abdul slaughtered his daughters at around 4am on Friday.
