A member of the police has been killed in a road accident at Goalchattar area under Bangabandhu Bridge East police station.
The deceased is Abdul Majid, 50, son of Lohai Pramanik of Sirajganj.
OC Akheruzzaman of the police station said the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound Shyamoli Paribahan bus hit a standing police van after its driver lost control of the vehicle at around 5am, leaving Majid critically injured.
He was first taken to Tangail Medical College Hospital. Later, Majid died on the way to Dhaka at around 9:30am.
