The brutal killing of blogger, science writer Ananta Bijay Das in the morning on May 12 triggered more than 8,000 tweets all around the world within just 16 hours (10am, May 12 to 2am, May 13) that carried the news and mourned for him.

Of the tweets, 3,400 show the respective location from where those were tweeted. The interactive map below shows those tweets distributed across the world to the twitterers' locations.

The minimized view of the global map exhibits the number of tweets generated from different regions. As you zoom in, the tweets in the places under the region would be found, as you go more into it, you would find number of tweets from the specific locations, and finally when you click you would get the accounts which made the tweets and what they tweeted.

For example, 176 tweets were made in these hours immediately after the killing in African continent, as you click on it, you will get Nigeria with 60 tweets, among the countries , then you click on Nigeria, and as the map get enlarged, 15 have been made from Abuja, among other towns of the country, and then you can get the what were the tweets made from there, and from which accounts.

Likewise, you would see all the tweets of the 3400 at different locations, of the total 8000  that mourned in the following 16 hours following the killing of Ananta in Sylhet.

Here you get an idea of how many times Ananta was referred as a secular, atheist and the third blogger to be killed by the militants.

Say, in USA, Ananta was mostly referred as Secular, suggested by the purple circle which is bigger than the green (that represents the ratio of the times he was referred as Aethist in the tweets made in USA) and the brown one (mentioning Ananta as being the third blogger in a row to be killed in Bangladesh).

This info-graphic shows the location-wise tweet ratio where Ananta was referred as secular. Apparently Washington DC and New York are the places where he was cited most as secular. Ananta was mentioned as secular in 788 tweets.

Ananta was cited in 124 tweets as the third blogger to be assassinated in hand of machete-wielding militants in a row in Bangladesh. This information was most mentioned in the tweets from London, New Delhi, New York, India, England etc.

The size of the circle represents the ratio among the locations in terms of the time Ananta was referred to as an atheist. Apparently he was most cited as atheist in India and London. He was attributed as the atheist in 410 tweets.
