Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be honoured in a civic reception scheduled on May 29 to celebrate the 1974 Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) that was ratified by the Indian parliament on May 7.
The primer will be felicitated at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital around 2:30pm by Nagorik Committee.
Joint meetings of the AL-led 14-party alliance and the pro-AL professionals held across last week decided upon the programme.
Fourteen-party alliance spokesperson Mohammad Nasim, also the health minister, said they have formed a 202-member committee for the award function at a joint meeting on Thursday night at AL’s Dhanmondi office.
“Under the banner of Nagorik Committee, we will award a reception to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the successful resolution of the LBA bill in the Indian Loksabha. The 14-party seeks to express satisfaction over the unanimous ratification of the LBA by Indian Parliament and thank the Indian central government and the West Bengal government,” he said.
Nasim said the 14-party alliance will throw a big reception for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her patience, wisdom, courage and ageless leadership in this regard.
