Two people died of electrocution during yesterday’s heavy downpour in the capital’s Azimpur area in the afternoon.
They were Rifat, 6, a student of Anirban Primary School, and Ruma Begum, 25.
Arman, who brought the two to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said they were standing in front of their house near Rasulbagh School at Azimpur during the rain.
“There was no electricity when they were there but as soon as the power came back, electricity spread through the tin-shed house via a torn wire and they were electrocuted.”
They were taken to the hospital but doctors declared them dead, said Mozammel Haque, in-charge of the hospital’s police outpost.
Rifat’s mother Jarina was also hospitalised as she was injured in the incident as well.
