A suspected robber has been lynched by angry mob at Borun village under Kapasia upazila in Gazipur.
The deceased is Abdul Motaleb, 35, son of late Hafiz Uddin of Paplachamurchi village.
Kapasia OC Ahsan Ullah said: “Abdul was loitering in a suspicious manner near a tea stall around 3:30am Friday. He tried to escape when the villagers started questioning him.”
“The villagers held him and recovered a screw driver. Later, he died on the spot when the mob beat him up,” he added.
The OC said Abdul is an accused in three robbery cases filed with the police station.
His body has been sent to Gazipur sadar morgue for autopsy.
