A schoolgirl has committed suicide allegedly over an altercation with her mother at Uttar-Patuwapara in Natore.
The deceased is Segupta Mehzabin Zannati, 14, a class X student of Natore Government Girls' School.
Sub-inspector Saiduzzaman of sadar police station said the girl hanged herself from the ceiling of her house using a scarf at around 11am on Thursday.
Family members rushed her to Natore sadar hospital where on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Abu Bakkar Siddique, a mathematics teacher of the school, said Zannati's classmates informed her mother that she was absent from school on Sunday.
"They also informed her mother that Zannati might fall in love with someone and that's why she missed the class. Then, her mother came to the school on Wednesday and the duo locked in an altercation," he said.
Following the matter, Zannati's mother also prohibited her from going to school from Thursday.
"She might commit suicide following the disagreement with her mother," said the school teacher.
Sadar police station OC Mizanur Rahman said an unnatural death case was lodged with the station in this connection.
