'Interpol issues Red Notice against Salahuddin'

Interpol's Dhaka office has sent a red notice to India, requesting it to arrest the man who claims to be BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, Indian daily The Telegraph reports.

Meghalaya director-general of police Rajiv Mehta told The Telegraph over phone that Interpol Dhaka has sent a red corner notice to India requesting it to arrest Salahuddin.

Malaysia turns away 2 boats with 800 migrants

Thousands of Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshis abandoned at sea had nowhere to turn Thursday as Malaysia turned away two boats crammed with more than 800 migrants, saying it could not afford to keep being nice.

Indonesia and Thailand also appeared unwilling to provide refuge to men, women and children, despite appeals by the UN High Commission for Refugees, international aid agencies and rights activists, who warned lives were at risk.

HRW: End Rohingya boat pushbacks

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has said Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia should end their pushbacks of boats with Rohingya and Bangladeshi migrants and asylum seekers.

Phil Robertson, deputy Asia director of HRW, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has seized around 500,000 yaba pills from a fishing boat at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port.

Miftah Uddin Ahmed, commanding officer (CO) of RAB 7, confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune.

11 killed in Kabul guest house attack

Afghan police say at least 11 people have died in an attack on a Kabul hotel that was packed with foreigners awaiting a concert.

Indian and US officials said a US citizen and two Indians were among those killed at the Palace Park Hotel. At least five people were injured.

Man found dead in Barisal hotel

Police have recovered the body of a person from the room of a residential hotel on Chawkbazar road in Barisal.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.
