An enlisted human trafficker has been killed in a "gunfight" with police in Eidgah area of Cox’s Bazar district.
The deceased is Belal Ahmed, 30, son of late Muhammad Mostafa of Kalarpara area.
Meanwhile, two policemen were injured in the incident.
Cox’s Bazar sadar OC Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury said: “Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a drive in the area early Tuesday. Sensing the presence of the policemen, the human traffickers opened fire at them.”
In retaliation, the law enforcers fired back that left Belal dead on the spot. However, the others managed to flee the scene.
Police also recovered one LG and explosives from the spot.
