Rail communications of Chittagong with the rest of the country were cut off after eight wheels of a train carrying members of the Bangladesh Army derailed in Comilla.
The incident took place near the Sadar upazila at around 3:30pm on Friday.
Laksham Railway Junction Official Masud Sarwar said: “Eight wheels of the Chittagong-bound army-special train from Dhaka veered off the track immediately after it crossed the Sadar upazila. A salvage train from Laksham reached the scene and started rescue operations.”
No report of injury or damage has been filed till writing of the report at 5:40pm.
