“Sutopar Thikana,” alternatively called “Her Own Address,” is all set to release today in the movie theaters marking the Mother’s Day. Directed by independent film-maker, Proshoon Rahman, who assisted the late Tarque Masud on a few projects, the film depicts a woman’s dependant life in various stages. The film is a screen adaptation of a book titled “Ishhorer Ichhe Nei Boley,” written by the director himself.
Aparna Ghosh has played the eponymous role in the film while it is one of those rare kinds which hold a female lead. Dramatically depicted the four different stages of Sutopa as an adolescent girl, as a married woman, as a widow and lately as old lady, the story emphasises on the woman in the South Asian region.
Apart from Aparna, Shahadat Hosain, Jayanta Chatyapadhaya and Mahmudul Islam Mithu have also worked in the film. Kumar Bishwajit has produced music for the film while Samina Chowdury, Kumar Bishwajit, Kishor, Kona and Chondona Mozumdar has lent voices to the songs.
The film, produced by Imation Creator, won the National Filmmaking Grant and are aiming to secure a place in the International film festivals schedule after its elease.
