Love bites

Update : 03 May 2015, 03:19 PM

There is great advice to guide you through your life, when it comes to love. What sucks is the fact that people will try to give you pointers that will only do you harm. These “people,” doling out their so called wisdom, are usually single and have no clue what they’re on about.

One love Some will insist that there is just one person in the world who is perfect for you. While we are really ecstatic for people who found their one “soulmate” and lived happily ever after, the rest of us have had to learn from trial and error. The person we dated in high school may have been perfect back then, but people change. Divorce and break-ups exist for a good reason. Sometimes you just need to find someone who is better for you.

So far, so close “Play hard to get,” they’ll tell you. This usually applies to women but can extend to men as well. “Wait three days before you call him.” This theory may not conclude well at all. We’re not advocating going the whole nine yards on the first date, but come on! If someone is into you and you dig them back, why make them jump through ridiculous hoops? If you two are going to make sparks fly, there is no point in delaying the process too long. Letting the interested party know you like them back is not going to make you look desperate. Don’t waste time playing games.

So unfair All indeed is not fair in love and war. You may still be obsessed with your ex, who obviously wants nothing to do with you but trying to get them back using shameless and needy tactics is just not the way to go. Ever. Whether you’re stalking them via Facebook, leaving snarky messages about their new person of interest or straight up breaking ceramic plates on their doors when they’re out on a date, just don’t. Don’t be that psycho. Learn when to move on.

Waiting in vain Some might say that no matter how bad things get, if you’re a couple, you need to stick it out. “Things will work themselves out,” they say. What if you are miserable in your current situation? What if there is abuse? Will you just linger on in misery just so others don’t judge you? Absolutely not! Trying to make things work when you know in your heart that it’s just not working can take a huge toll on both your lives.
