Two dead turtles were found at Kuakata Beach in Patuakhali.
One of which weighs about 40 kg, and the other weighs 35 kg.
KM Bachchu, a member of the Kuakata Dolphin Protection committee of the area spotted the two turtles on the western side of the Kuakata beach early on Friday.
After the rescue, the Kuakata Dolphin Protection Committee, Forest department and Ecofish together buried the two turtles on Friday morning.
Sagarika Smriti, associate researcher of EcoFish-2 Bangladesh project of Worldfish, said mainly because the abundance of jellyfish increased a few days ago, they can now come to the shore.
These turtles like to eat jellyfish. The scientific name of the two turtles is Lepidochelys olivacea.
They usually live for more than 50 years.
Abul Hossain Raju, a member of the Kuakata Dolphin Protection Committee, said one turtle had injury marks on its body and was bleeding, as if it had been stuck to something and died.
Before this, in the middle of 2023, several dead turtles were seen on this beach.
But the recovery of dead turtles happened for the first time in 2024.
Forest department Mohipur Range Officer Abul Kalam Azad, said he rushed to the spot with his force after receiving information from the members of the Dolphin Protection Committee.
One of the turtles was smelling a bit bad and they arranged to bury it, said the official.
