The government of Bangladesh awarded 12 individuals and organizations on the occasion of National Jute Day, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to research, production, export, and entrepreneurship in the jute sector.
The awards were presented on Friday morning at a ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
The awards aim to highlight the significance of jute, a traditional cash crop of Bangladesh, and to encourage individuals and organizations contributing to the sector’s growth. This year, 12 awards were distributed across various categories, including jute seed production, research, jute-based product manufacturing, and exports.
Among the awardees:
Dr. Md. Nurul Islam received the award for best researcher in jute seed, jute, and jute-based product research.Md. Shahanur Alam Sentu was recognized as the best jute seed producer.
Md. Abdus Samad Mondal received the best jute producer award.
Jute Mills Limited was honored as the best jute mill for jute-based product manufacturing, while Helal Ahmed of the same company received the best jute-based product exporter award.
Akij Jute Mills was selected as the best jute mill for yarn Production, and its director, Golam Murshid Bappi, received the best yarn exporting company award.
Akij Jute Mills also earned recognition as the best mill for diversified jute products, while Classical Handmade Products BD was awarded best exporter of diversified jute products.
In entrepreneurship categories, Taranga was recognized as the best female entrepreneur, and Md. Rashedul Karim Munna received the best male entrepreneur award.
Panacea Carbon Limited was honored as the best charcoal exporter company.
These awards underscore the government’s commitment to promoting the jute sector and motivating stakeholders at all levels—from research and cultivation to production and export.
