Two consecutive rains during the last couple of days benefited the standing crops and vegetables in the region, including its vast Barind tract.
According to the local meteorological office, the rain began at 12pm on Friday and continued until almost 5pm.
Earlier on Wednesday, the city dwellers and the adjacent people experienced rainfall.
Mst Umme Salma, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture Extension, said that Boro rice, jute, mango, litchi and other fruits and vegetables have benefited from the rainfall.
She said that the consecutive rains were blessings for the crops, fruits and vegetables.
Talking to the press on Saturday, Tarek Aziz, an observer at the meteorological office, said that they recorded 31.8mm of rainfall on Friday. Earlier on Wednesday, they recorded 84mm of rainfall, the highest of the season, and the rain began at 8:40pm and continued to 11:30pm.
Abdul Jalil, a farmer at Tanore upazila in the district, said they benefited from the rainfall enormously.
He said the farmers, who are preparing their lands for the aush paddy cultivation they benefited to a greater extent from the rainfall.
