At least 20 passengers were injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Faridpur Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon.
Quoting locals, police said the accident occurred in the Karimpur area around 4pm when a Dhaka-bound bus of Royal Paribahan collided with a Magura-bound bus of Apan Paribahan.
On receiving information, members of Kotwali Police Station and the Highway Police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of local people.
After being rescued, the injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The accident disrupted traffic on both sides of the highway for about an hour.
Vehicular movement returned to normal after the damaged buses were removed from the road, said Officer-in-Charge of the Kotwali Police Station Mahmudur Rahman.
