A security guard died after falling from the rooftop of a building in the Sipahibagh area of Khilgaon in the capital on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman, 45, son of Matiur Rahman from Ahmadpur village under Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh.
According to building owner Abu Taher, the incident took place around 10:45pm at house no. 671/6/A in Sipahibagh, Khilgaon, when Habibur went to the rooftop of the six-storey building and fell to the ground.
Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector Ershad of Khilgaon Police Station said CCTV footage showed the victim climbing onto the railing while talking on his mobile phone before falling.
He was first taken to a local hospital and later rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at around 11:30pm after examination.
Police said Habibur worked as a security guard at the building. His body has been kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Authorities said the incident is under investigation.
