3 housemaids burnt in Gulshan fire

The victims are Sharifa, 16, Bedana, 20, and Parvin 37. Gulshan SI Sharif Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune that the house owner Shafkat Ahmed had rushed to the workers' room after hearing an explosion around 6am on Monday. He broke into the room with the help of others and put out the fire. The SI said the injured maids were first taken to United Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit. What caused the fire is still unclear. “We are investigating the incident to find out if it was a gas leakage or an electrical short-circuit that triggered the fire,” SI Sharif said.
