Protest in Old Dhaka against attacks on Hindus

The protesters gathered under the banner of Sankhari Bazar Socheton Nagorik Somaj at Roy Saheb Bazar on Monday morning. As the human chain stretched from Roy Saheb Bazar to Shankhari Bazar and Kolta Bazar, it disrupted traffic and led to tailbacks in surrounding areas. Hindu communities, their residences and places of worship have come under attack in many parts of Bangladesh in recent weeks, most notably in Nasirnagar, where hundreds of houses and many temples were damaged and ransacked on October 30. “Hindus in Bangladesh have no freedom and there is no security arrangement for us,” said Badal Saha, a member of Nagorik Somaj.
