A Chinese company in Bangladesh has been making wigs for years, which are exported to Europe, America, Canada, Australia and Japan.
The MGL Company BD Ltd is operated by Chinese businessman Liu Cheng, and employs around 2,000 Bangladeshis, mostly female.
The factory is located in Ishwardi Export Processing Zone of Pabna district and was founded in 2013.
It makes different kinds of stylish hair extensions composed of both human and artificial hair, reports Xinhua News.
Wigs made in the factory are glued to the heads of plastic dolls before being exported. Factory workers process hair into a variety of styles which include curly extensions and full wigs.
According to MGL Assistant General Manager Ziaur Rahman, dolls with wigs made with real human hair are very famous. These wigs are also used in barber shops for basic training of apprentice hair dressers and beauticians.
Ziaur said that they get the raw material for making the wigs from China.
Company insiders said MGL has attained “robust production growth” over the years and it ensures “an excellent work atmosphere by offering competitive wages to its hundreds of workers and staff,” who are mostly Bangladeshis.
A worker, Nasima, said: "Thanks to this Chinese company building their factory in Bangladesh, I was hired to work in the hair section. It's great for us because we have reliable employment here."
MGL's general supervisor, Rafiqul Islam, said: "Our production levels have nearly doubled compared to the past. The quality of our products is good and the living standard of our workers has also improved a lot."
