A 29-member delegation will represent Bangladesh at the upcoming international climate conference in Morocco this month, according to a government order issued on Thursday.
The team comprises high officials of the government including ministry secretaries, climate change experts and representatives from development partners.
Among the delegates are Deputy Minister of Environment and Forests Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, former environment minister Hasan Mahmud, Environment and Forests Secretary Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Agriculture Secretary Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, Economic Relations Division Senior Secretary Mohammad Mejbahuddin, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam and Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md Shah Kamal.
The deputy minister will lead the team while the environment and forests secretary will be there as an alternative lead.
In addition, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation Chairman Qazi K Ahmad, hydrologist Ainun Nishat, and agro-economists Dr Asaduzzaman, Rezaul Karim and Mizan R Khan are also members of the delegation as experts.
The conference, titled Conference of Parties (COP) 22, is an initiative of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and will be held in Marrakesh, Morocco on November 7-18.
The agenda of this year's meeting will focus on finding a way to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, which was adopted at COP21 in Paris, France last year.
