Pabna Zamindar Bari turns to ruin

The lone Muslim landlord of the district had built the house around 200 years ago, is now in rundown state and partly occupied by grabbers. Local influential has also illegally grabbed around 10 acres of land of palace. Locals said after falling of Zamidari tradition, inherits of Azim Chowdhury had locked into disputes over controlling the wealth and they abandoned the palace. Local influential took advantages of the enmity among inherits and looted valuables from the palace. They also grabbed land and properties during that time. Farque Hossain Chowdhury, inherit of Azim Chowdhury, said: “After long legal process we have able to recover the palace, but it is nothing more but a heap of ruin.” Rekha Ranj Balo, deputy commissioner of Pabna, said: “We will take necessary steps to recover the wealth of Zamidar Azim Chowdhury.”
