Five policemen injured in clash with robbers

The raid was carried out by a team from the Sadar police station in Noahati area in Habiganj town around Sunday midnight in the house of one Dipak Sarkar, who police say is a notorious criminal accused in hijacking, robbery and rape. During the raid, Dipak and his men attacked the police team with sharp weapons, injuring Sub-Inspectors Mizanur Rahman and Suman Chandra Hajra, ASI Akterujjaman, Constable Yasir and one other officer. The injured policemen were treated at Habiganj Sadar Hospital, Sadar police Officer-in-Charge Yasinul Haque told the Dhaka Tribune. Dipak, who sustained injuries in the clash, was arrested. Police have filed a case against him and his men. Dipak is being treated at the Sadar Hospital under police guard, the OC said.
