Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the resolute leadership of Sheikh Hasina has provided the people of Bangladesh a beacon of hope during a difficult period.
The Indian premier made the comment while greeting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her 70th birthday in a message sent on Wednesday, reports BSS.
In the message, the Indian premier highly praised the leadership of Sheikh Hasina saying: "Your resolute leadership has provided the people of Bangladesh a beacon of hope during a difficult period."
Modi also said: "I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to you on your birthday."
He said that under the "able stewardship" of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh made "rapid strides" in its progress towards peace and prosperity for all citizens covering development to security.
The Indian prime minister, who visited Bangladesh last year, said that he is looking forward to welcoming Sheikh Hasina in Goa next month, and taking forward the shared agenda of Dhaka and Delhi for strengthening regional cooperation.
"Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration", Modi said.
